ViMi District

The burgeoning ViMi District has yet to settle on a proper designation for itself, but basically it’s what’s in and around Mills Avenue between Virginia Avenue at the north end and Colonial Drive at the south end. Virginia + Mills = ViMi. The area includes the Little Vietnam agglomeration of Vietnamese shops and restaurants at the southern end as well as the bars, restaurants, and galleries along the Mills Avenue corridor.
The main sight in this area is the Harry P. Leu Gardens (1920 N. Forest Ave., 407/246-2620, www.leugardens.org, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily, $7 adults, $2 children, free 9 a.m.–noon Mon.), although its Forest Avenue address puts it a block or so north of the end of Virginia Avenue. The beautiful gardens house the largest formal rose garden in Florida as well as the largest camellia collection outside of California; backyard green-thumbs can mine the three “idea gardens” for inspiration, while the less horticulturally inclined can simply enjoy the pastoral scenery the 50 acres offer.
