Playa Sosúa

Playa Sosúa is the main beach; it lies in the middle of two neighborhoods (El Batey and Los Charamicos). The beach’s tawny, fine sand is the point where the two worlds combine. Dominicans from Los Charamicos and the tourists from El Batey come together, making for a rather crowded but fun beach. This public space is lined with restaurants, vendors, bars, and excursion desks, all vying for the attention of the tourists. It’s a busy place. You can rent beach loungers for about US$2.

Playa Alicia

To the east of Playa Sosúa is a smaller and definitely less crowded beach called Playa Alicia, most commonly referred to as Playita (Little Beach). It is at the end of Calle Dr. Rosen by the Hotel Sosúa by the Sea, and a staircase leads down the rocky cliff. Since it’s harder to get to, you won’t find as many vendors of trinkets, food, or drink, but you’ll find peace and quiet compared to the overly populated Playa Sosúa.
