The Dominican Republic’s biodiversity yields a huge assortment of plants and flowers. If you’re vacationing only in the metropolitan area of Santo Domingo, the best way to see the full scope of the environment’s capabilities is by visiting the Jardín Botánico Nacional in Santo Domingo. But if you’re going to the countryside, beaches, mountains, or desert, you’ll quickly learn that the Dominican Republic is truly a rich country when it comes to vegetation. No matter what the season, something seems to be blooming, growing, or adding fragrance to the air.

There are over 5,600 species of plants found in the 20 different zones, which is unique for a Caribbean island, and 30 percent of the plants found here are endemic to the Dominican Republic.
