Before there was Brokeback Mountain there were many gay cowboys and -girls looking for a dance partner, even in the wilds of Denver. Charlie’s in Capitol Hill is the city’s gay and lesbian country-and-western dance club. There are free dance lessons, and for those not into the country scene, a separate dance floor and DJ playing house and disco music create a different vibe.
Charlie’s is the home of the Colorado Gay Rodeo Association.
