Ski Train
Trip Ideas
Winter Park is a mere 67 miles from Denver, but the best way to go is by Ski Train (555 17th St., Denver, 303/296-4754, www.skitrain.com), which departs from Union Station and arrives at the Ski Resort two and a half hours later. It’s a pretty scenic trip, with fares about $39–74 (round-trip), and food and drinks for sale on board.
There is weekend service in winter (Dec. 27–Mar. 29) and in summer (mid-June–mid-Aug.) there is service on Saturdays. Friday and Thursday service will be added in February 2009.
If going to Devil’s Thumb Ranch, make advance reservations for shuttle service from the train stop. Activity tickets for the resort are on sale aboard the train.
