Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Cliff House at Pikes Peak (306 Cañon Ave., 719/685-3000 or 888/212-7000, www.thecliffhouse.com, $199–475) is a blend of historic integrity and modern amenities since a fire damaged much of the interior in the 1980s. The 55 guest rooms and suites include “celebrity rooms” named after former guests such as Clark Gable and Teddy Roosevelt.
The Two Sisters Inn (10 Otoe Pl., 719/685-9684, www.twosisinn.com, $69–145) is a little pink house that has bedrooms in the main house with private or shared bathrooms and a private guest house out back in the garden. The rates are reasonable and the service attentive.
