A Denver Snow Day

Skiing in the mountains isn’t the only option when there is a big snowstorm. There is plenty to do in Denver on a cold, snowy day, whether you want to stay in or go play in the snow.

Get Up

Sledding at Commons Park or Stapleton Central Park.

Cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in Washington Park.

Ice-skating at Evergreen Lake, in the foothills west of the city.

Warm Up

Sweat it out in the Denver Botanic Gardens Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory or in the Denver Zoo’s Tropical Discovery.

Curl up next to the enormous fireplace in REI and maybe start planning your next trip to the mountains. Kids can play at the indoor playground and anyone can give the climbing wall a try when it’s open.

Fill Up

Lunch or dinner and a movie at the Neighborhood Flix Cinema & Café. Have a casual soup and sandwich lunch at Cook’s Fresh Market, where tables next to the huge windows offer a view of the snowfall and pedestrians on the 16th Street Mall.

A leisurely dinner at The Fort in Morrison with a view of the twinkling lights of the city against the fresh white snow.
