HOURS: Daily 10 a.m.–10 p.m.
Denver’s largest powwow, and one of the largest in the nation, the Denver March Powwow is held for three days every March at the coliseum just beyond downtown. A powwow is essentially a gathering of Native American tribes; the focus is on different dance performances done in elaborate costumes to the beat of live drums.
To watch any of the dances—men’s or women’s, fancy or traditional—is to learn about a particular tribe, region, or history.
There are also a lot of vendors selling Native American jewelry, food, artwork, and fetishes. Different activities and performances take place daily.
