Restaurant Colonial (Galiano #164, esq. Virtudes, tel. 07/861-0702, daily 11 a.m.– midnight), in the Hotel Lincoln, is one of the better restaurants in Centro and serves soups, fish, shrimp, and chicken dishes for less than CUC4. The service is swift and conscientious.
Remarkable for its sensational modernist architecture (the facade features trifold Gothic-inspired curving peaks, like those of an Indonesian temple), the glass-fronted Bar de Tapas Lava Día (Malecón #407, e/ Manrique y Campanario, tel. 07/864-4432, daily noon–midnight) is a bit yuppyish, but I like its ambience. No surprise, it serves tapas and sangria.
