There’s no shortage of tour agencies, many the size of telephone kiosks, offering surfing, sportfishing, and everything else. Many local outfitters are based at Playa Herradura, north of Jacó. Solutions Tourism & Services (tel. 506/2643-3485, www.solutionscr.com), in Multi-Centro Costa Brava, is a full-service travel agency.

ATV tours are a gas! Check with Paradise Adventure Travel & ATV Tours (tel. 506/8849-5892, www.paraisocostarica.com); Jaguariders (tel. 506/2643-0180, www.jaguariders.com); or AXR Tours (tel. 506/2643-3130 or 2643-6465, www.axrjaco.com), which has one-hour to full-day tours by ATV and French-made AXR off-road vehicles.

King Tours (tel. 506/2643-2441, www.kingtours.com) specializes in sportfishing; or try Bubba’s Sportfishing (tel. 506/2643-3112), at the Bohío Beach Bar.

Bungee Jumping

Pacific Bungee (tel. 506/2643-6682, www.pacificbungee.com, 9:30 A.M.–8:30 P.M. daily, $50) offers bungee jumping from a 40-meter-tall metal tower! You can even touch down in a water pool, which you skim. There’s also a high-speed, oversized catapult—the Rocket Launcher—for an added adrenaline boost.

Canopy Tours

The Rainforest Adventures (tel. 506/2257-5961, www.rainforestadventure.com, 9 A.M.–4 P.M. Mon., 6 A.M.–4 P.M. Tues.–Sun., $55 adults, $27 children) offers a ride into the forest canopy aboard its Rainforest Aerial Tram, comprising 18 wheelchair-accessible gondolas (with canvas awnings and guides). It also has an herbarium, snake exhibit, and trails. Bring raingear.

Horseback Riding

Discovery Horseback Tours (tel. 506/8838-7550, www.horseridecostarica.com), located three kilometers south of Jacó, offers horseback rides.

Surfing

More than a dozen outlets on the main street cater to surfers. Take your pick! Two of the best are W.O.W. Surf (tel. 506/2643-3844, www.wowsurf.net) and Jaco Surf School (tel. 506/2643-1905, www.jacosurfschool.com). There is also good surfing, as well as related services, in nearby Playa Hermosa.
