All rooms face the river at 
Hotel Naguilán (General Lagos 1927, tel. 063/212851, www.hotelnaguilan.com, US$75/94–93/109 s/d), just beyond the downtown bustle, but those in the newer northern building are more spacious and less institutional (in a previous incarnation, the older southern building was a shipbuilder’s offices, but its common areas, including the reception area, bar, and restaurant, have undergone a tasteful remodel that makes excellent use of natural wood).
Across the bridge, Isla Teja’s Hotel Puerta del Sur (Av. Los Lingues 950, tel. 063/224500, www.hotelpuertadelsur.com, US$127/141–139/154 s/d) is more a rural resort than an urban hotel, but it’s barely beyond downtown.
