El Calafate’s nightlife consists mostly of dining out and drinking at venues such as The Grouse (Av. del Libertador 351, tel. 02902/491281), a Celtic-style pub with occasional live music; it’s simply too small for the volume level of some rock bands that play there, though.
On the Laguna Nimez road, the brew pub Whirra (Almirante Brown 1391, tel. 02902/492515) also offers picadas (bar snacks). Don Diego de la Noche (Av. Libertador 1603, tel. 02902/493270) is an established nightspot.
On Calafate’s western outskirts, the best bar is the Shackleton Lounge (Av. Libertador 3287, tel. 02902/493516), which has lake views but suffers excesses of electronica.
