Other than hotel restaurants, Chaitén has few eateries. Several waterfront locales serve seafood, including the homey Cocinería Marita (Corcovado 455). At the Cocinerías Costumbristas (Diego Portales s/n), several stalls prepare simple but fresh grilled fish and seafood at budget prices (the side orders of french fries, though, can be heavy with grease).
In recent years, 
Flamengo (Corcovado 218, tel. 067/731314) has evolved from a budget restaurant to a more upscale venue also specializing in seafood, and it’s often packed.
