But for an extraordinary assortment of traditional Mapuche silverwork—unfortunately, it lacks space to display all 600 pieces in the collection—Los Ángeles’s municipal museum would be truly mediocre.

Even then, the lack of accompanying text makes it seem more like a jewelry store before the price tags have been affixed, but, as it’s rare to see this much quality jewelry in one place, it’s well worth a detour from the Panamericana.

The musuem (Colón 195, 2nd floor, tel. 043/409400) is open 8 a.m.–1:45 p.m. and 3–6:30 p.m. weekdays only. Admission is free.
