Several reasonable Chilean eateries line Avenida Santa Teresa, among them Lomo House (Av. Santa Teresa 194, tel. 034/422422), which serves huge sandwiches at low prices, plus lunch or dinner entrées in the US$6–7 range, with attentive service. El Guatón (Av. Santa Teresa 240, tel. 034/423596) serves traditional dishes such as pastel de choclo.
The Círculo Italiano (Esmeralda 246) serves Italian meals on the site of the former Escuela de Niñas. Half a block east of the museum, the local classic Centro Español (O’Higgins 674, tel. 034/424885) has excellent three-course lunches for US$5.
On the eastern outskirts of town, well-regarded La Table de France (Camino Internacional, Km 3, tel. 034/406319, www.latabledefrance.cl) is open daily except Monday for lunch and dinner.
Chocolatería Marcam (Av. Santa Teresa 108, tel. 034/427712) makes fine homemade ice cream and other desserts.
