Campamento Po’op Chan (tel. 55/5004-7135, campamentopoopchan [at] yahoo [dot] com, US$15 pp) has simple wood cabins built on stilts overlooking a small stream, utilizing so-so shared toilets and showers. Cabins are reasonably clean and comfortable, each with two double beds, a patio, and mosquito screens for walls. Large holes in the screens—not to mention gaps in the floor boards—make insect repellent a good idea, especially in the rainy/buggy season.
The campamento receives mostly groups, which typically bring their own food supplies. Ask at reception about arranging meals at Po’op Chan; otherwise there are several simple eateries in town.
In San Cristóbal, SendaSur (Calle Real de Guadalupe 46, tel. 967/678-3909) is an office operated jointly by several community tourism entities in order to promote and facilitate their projects. Stop by for information about the various destination, or to make reservations; a deposit may be required, and is payable at the office.
