Tonalá is a frequent and logical stop for business travelers, and as a result the hotels in town tend to be long on services and short on charm. Bear in mind that these hotels (and most others on or near the coast) can double in price during vacation season.

Hotel Grajandra (Av. Hidalgo 204, tel. 966/663-0148, US$45 s/d with a/c) has large rooms with red tile floors and attractive bathrooms, complemented by friendly professional service and a load of amenities, including in-room Wi-Fi and telephones, cable TV, air-conditioning, a swimming pool, restaurant, and parking. Just a half block from the ADO terminal, it’s super convenient for those traveling by bus, but five long blocks from the central square.

Hotel Galilea (Av. Hidalgo 111, tel. 966/663-0239, US$30/40 s/d with a/c) is as centrally located as you can get, occupying a historic building right on Tonalá’s lively main square. Rooms are a bit dated—old-school TVs, air-conditioning, etc.—but beds are comfy and the service friendly. Parking, wireless Internet, and a reliable restaurant are additional pluses.
