Dr. Belisario Domínguez House Museum (Av. Central 35, tel. 963/632-1300, 10 a.m.–6:45 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 9 a.m.–12:45 p.m. Sun., US$0.50) showcases the life of Dr. Belisario Domínguez, one of Chiapas’s most important politicians, whose primary causes were the improvement of public services to Chiapas as well as promoting freedom of speech. A Mexican senator during the early 1900s, Dr. Domínguez was assassinated in 1913 after he publically called for the resignation of the president of Mexico, Victoriano Huerta.
The museum is in his family home and contains a replica of his pharmacy, a sitting room and bedroom, his medical tools, and document upon document about his life as well as his own writings. Signage is in Spanish only.
