Looking at the exterior of the building, you’ll have no question about what is inside: The kayaks and paddles on the front porch of the log cabin are the best clues that this is an outdoors retailer.
Great Outdoor Provision Co. started out as a 120-square-foot retail shack in Carrboro, North Carolina, in 1972. Almost four decades later, it has grown into one of the most popular homegrown outdoors-gear retailers in the Carolinas.
There are seven locations, including the log cabin in Charlotte, which stocks all things related to the outdoors from camp stoves and tents to wicking underwear and hiking boots. The staff is made up of outdoors enthusiasts and gearheads who have tested almost all of the equipment in the store.
The buy-back guarantee is just that: If the gear isn’t up to your standards, the store will buy it back.
