The second-largest gay and lesbian event in Georgia (only Atlanta’s version is larger), the Savannah Pride Festival (http://savpride.com/wordpress, various venues, free) happens every September. Crowds get pretty big for this festive, fun event, which usually features lots of dance acts and political booths.
Though the quality of the acts has been overshadowed lately by the Savannah Music Festival in the spring, the Savannah Jazz Festival (www.savannahjazzfestival.org) has two key things going for it: It’s free, and it’s outside in the glorious green expanse of Forsyth Park. Generally spread out over several nights, the volunteer-run festival draws a good crowd regardless of the lineup, and concessions are available.
