El Malecón
Trip Ideas
Campeche’s malecón (promenade) stretches for three kilometers (two miles) along the Gulf of Mexico, and has been rescued from years of neglect with the addition of monuments and benches.
Morning and evenings are especially popular, when you’ll share the pathway with dog-walkers and inline skaters, and couples out for a brisk stroll. You can join the walkers or, better yet, rent a bike in town for a couple hours.
The adjacent avenue can get busy, and the piers used by fishing boats a bit odorous, but it’s still a fun outing.
