Most of Cancún’s top hotels boast excellent spa facilities, but Spa del Mar (Blvd. Kukulcán Km. 14, tel. 998/881-2000, www.starwoodhotels.com/lemeridien, 6 a.m.–10 p.m. daily) at Le Méridien Resort is surely one of the best. The 15,000-square-foot European-style destination includes saunas, whirlpool tubs, cold plunge pools, a modern fitness room (including yoga, Pilates, aerobics, and spinning classes), and, of course, a wide variety of skin and body treatments. Prices are far from cheap—from US$60 for an herbal bath and up—but it’s a fine way to pamper yourself.
The recommended Centro Naturista Xbalamqué (Hotel Xbalamqué, Calle Jazmines near Av. Yaxchilán, tel. 998/887-7853, www.xbalamque.com, 9 a.m.–8 p.m. Mon.–Sat., by appointment only on Sun.) offers a full line of massages, body wraps, and spiritual treatments like Reiki and crystal therapy. Prices are very reasonable, ranging US$25–40.
