El Bosque del Caribe (Av. Nader near Av. Uxmal, tel. 998/892-7548, www.cancunlanguage.com, 7:30 a.m.–2 p.m. and 5–7 p.m. Mon.–Fri.) is Cancún’s best Spanish-language school, with experienced instructors and individual attention. Group classes never exceed six students and often have just two or three.
Group courses are US$246/week for 25 hours of class, or US$171 a week for 15 hours. Private classes run US$25/hour or US$449/week (25 hours), and mixed group/private packages can also be arranged.
El Bosque partners with local dive shops if you want to get PADI certified at the same time and arranges weekend excursions to archaeological sites as well as cooking and salsa classes. Students can choose from a variety of well-priced lodging options, whether at the center itself, a nearby student house, downtown apartments, Zona Hotelera condos, or with local families.
