Centrally located in the Grant Grove Village, the Grant Grove Cabins (866/522-6966, www.sequoia-kingscanyon.com, $65–75/tent cabins) offer a wide array of lodging styles for a variety of prices. Many of these cabins have been around awhile—some since the early days of what was then the General Grant National Park. The economy option here are the tent cabins, which are short on amenities, with no electricity or heat and with shared, central bathrooms.
From May through October, a number of Camp, Rustic, and Oversized cabins offer solid walls ($77–140), a small propane heater plus an outdoor wood-burning stove, electricity, and daily maid service. When you make reservations, ask about larger cabins if you’ve got a bigger group or family.
It can start snowing in Sequoia and Kings Canyon as early as mid-September. If you’re visiting in the spring or the fall, consider whether you’re willing to chance an unheated or minimally heated cabin should a storm come up in the park.
Open all year are the historic cabins with private baths. Most are duplexes, one log cabin is a single that sleeps two. These cabins have heating, historic Mission-style decor, and amenities such as coffee makers.
