It’s fitting that in Wine Country, a place at the bleeding edge of sustainable agriculture in a state known for its eco-mindedness, you can take a vineyard tour on a Segway. Sonoma Segway (524 Broadway, 707/938-2080, www.sonomasegway.com, $99/tour, $40/hour rental) offers a 2.5-hour tour that includes a visit to a local winery, a stop at a local food-based business, and a full-fledged visit to historic Sonoma.
You’ll start off with a lesson on the Segway, and when you finish you’ll get a complimentary bottle of wine (if you’re of age, of course). If you’d prefer to traverse the Sonoma streets and paths on your own, rent a Segway—for just two hours or up to a month at a time.
