Located in downtown Yountville, the tiny tasting room at Jessup Cellars (6740 Washington St., Yountville, 707/944-8523, www.jessupcellars.com, daily 10 a.m.–6 p.m.) offers tastes of incredible boutique red wines you’ll have a hard time finding anyplace else.
You’ll get no tours here, no picnic grounds or fancy gardens. But you’ll find lush, rich Zinfandels and deep, smoky Cabernets that are more than worth the sometimes-steep price tag.
The tasting room boasts a cute little bar, a few shelves with items for purchase, and staff that love their jobs. If you chat them up, you may find yourself tasting rare Jessup vintages that are not on the usual list.
