Promoted as San Jose’s first luxury hotel when it opened in 1911, the Hotel Montgomery (211 S. But never fear, they’ve kept up with the times, complete with weird modern art in the lobby and uncomfortable-looking squared-off couches in the bar. Guest rooms echo the elegance and add a touch of comfort, with Egyptian cotton linens and cushy comforters on the beds. Local original art and a standard-issue red leather chair round out the room decor. Posh amenities include an on-site gym, restaurant and bar, room service, and Wi-Fi in the public areas of the hotel.
