Much of the rich heritage of the Mission district is Hispanic, thus leading to the Mission’s being the place to find a good taco or burrito. The Farolito Taqueria (2950 24th St., 415/641-0758, Sun.–Thurs. 10 a.m.–12:45 a.m., Fri.–Sat. 10 a.m.–2:45 a.m., $10) has found favor with the ultra-picky locals who have dozens of taqueria options within a few blocks.
It seems that every regular has a different favorite: the burritos, the enchiladas, the quesadillas…whatever your pleasure, you’ll find a tasty version of it at Farolito. A totally casual spot, you’ll order at the counter and sit at picnic-style tables to chow down on the properly greasy Mexican fare.
Do be aware that if you come late at night, you’ll encounter some of the less savory residents of the Mission. (Don’t confuse this Farolito with the taqueria by the same name on Mission St.)
