A locals’ favorite, especially for weekend brunch, Butterfly (Pier 33, 415/864-8999, www.butterflysf.com, Mon.–Fri. 11:30 a.m.–3 p.m., 3:30–11 p.m., Sat.–Sun. 11 a.m.–3 p.m., 3:30–10 p.m., $16–30) attracts a young, hip crowd with its ultra-modern decor and cocktails for both lunch and dinner.
You can sit at a window table enjoying the Asian-inspired California cuisine and watching the city-sized cruise ships dock next door. The brunch menu offers fun breakfast-type dishes.
Butterfly can draw a crowd, so make reservations to get a seat at your favorite time. The bar is open until 2 a.m. nightly.
