The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego—La Jolla (700 Prospect St., 858/454-3541, www.mcasd.org, Fri.–Tues. 11 a.m.–5 p.m., Thurs. 11 a.m.–7 p.m., general admission $10, free for those 25 and under) is one of two MCASD campuses in the area. (The other is in downtown San Diego.)

At the La Jolla site, perfectly located on Prospect Street for easy access, you’ll see works of art in all media created from 1950 to the present. MCASD takes particular pride in its collections of Pop and Minimalist art from the 1960s and ’70s, as well as a selection of pieces from artists working in the San Diego and Tijuana areas.

If you love the new, unique, and misunderstood arts of the modern era, the MCASD La Jolla is a must-see. And if all that art makes you hungry, be sure to stop at the museum café for a quick bite.
