For great, cheap Mexican food right on the main drag, you can’t beat Valentine’s Mexican Food (3852 Mission Blvd., 858/539-0939, daily 10 a.m.–10 p.m., $4–7). You can order tacos to go or enjoy an enchilada plate inside the restaurant, taking advantage of the free serve-yourself chips and salsa.
There’s nothing fancy about Valentine’s food, but it’s high quality and plentiful, with the proper toppings and sides, such as guacamole, sour cream, and house-made salsa. Lunching here during a day on the beach or the water will fill you up and get you back out for a long afternoon of playing in the sunshine.
