For good food in a fanciful atmosphere, get a table at Peohe’s (1201 First St., 619/437-4474, www.peohes.com, lunch daily 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., dinner Mon.–Sat. 5:30 p.m.–close, Sun. 4:30 p.m.–close, $22–80). It offers a cute tropical atmosphere, great views of San Diego Bay, and tasty offerings from land and sea.
The menu is friendly to tourists new to the fresh California fish concept, while still offering pros at the game some interesting new preparations. If you prefer to keep your fish off the grill, order from the sushi bar.
To go with your meal, enjoy a festive cocktail. The Volcano is the house special, and it serves two with near-lethal potency.
Finally, Peohe’s prides itself on its huge and tasty homemade desserts. If you possibly can, round out your meal with a Hot Chocolate Lava cake.
