The Rose Bowl Stadium (1001 Rose Bowl Dr., 626/577-3101, www.rosebowlstadium.com), true to its name, is the home to the famed “Granddaddy” of the Bowl Games and to the UCLA college football team.

Built in 1922, this huge elliptical bowl began with an open side. It was closed only a few years later, and now seats almost (but not quite) 100,000 people—perfect for the Super Bowl, as well as the flea markets and endless parade of college games! In addition to the endless vista of seats, you’ll find plenty of restrooms and concessions scattered throughout the stadium—far more than the average college football team’s home.

You can visit the Rose Bowl anytime, though you might need a ticket during an event, and you’ll definitely need to plan in advance to attend the Rose Bowl game.

Check the online calendar to find a fun event to attend for the best sense of this National Historic Landmark.
