The Getty Center (1200 Getty Center Dr., 310/440-7300, www.getty.edu, Tues.–Thurs. and Sun. 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Fri.–Sat. 10 a.m.–9 p.m., admission free, parking $8), donated by the family of J. Paul Getty to the people of Los Angeles, features European art, sculpture, manuscripts, and European and American photos. The magnificent works are set in a fabulous modern building with soaring architecture and you’re guaranteed to find something beautiful to catch your eye and feed your imagination.
The spacious galleries have comfy sofas to let you sit back and take in the paintings and drawings on the walls. Be sure to take a stroll outdoors to admire the sculpture collections on the lawns, as well as the exterior architectural itself.
