New Orleans Square

In New Orleans Square, the unquestioned favorite ride for the 21st century is the newly revamped Pirates of the Caribbean. If you haven’t visited Disneyland in a few years, you’ll notice some major changes to this old favorite.

Beginning in the dim swamp overlooked by the Blue Bayou restaurant, inside the ride’s classic scenes have been revamped to more closely tie to the movies. Look for Jack Sparrow to pop up among your other favorite disreputable characters engaged in all sorts of debauchery.

Lines for Pirates can get long, so consider grabbing a FastPass for this one if you don’t want to wait. Even if you don’t FastPass, the line for Pirates moves fast. Pirates is suitable for younger children as well as teens and adults.

For a taste of truly classic Disney, line up in the graveyard for a tour of the Haunted Mansion. Next to Pirates, this ride hasn’t changed much in the last 40 years. It hasn’t needed to.

The sedate motion makes the Haunted Mansion suitable for younger children, but beware! The ghosties and ghoulies that amuse adults can be intense for little kids.
