If you’d like your kids to spend at least one day in the O.C. doing something educational, take them to the Discovery Science Center (2500 N. Main St., Santa Ana, 714/542-2823, www.discoverycube.org, daily 10 a.m.–5 p.m., adults $13, children $10). The star attraction, the interactive DinoQuest, lets kids get inside the lost world of dinosaurs. Way inside!
You can also take a quick nap on a bed of nails, create your own clouds and tornadoes, and experience the buffeting of a hurricane inside a wind tunnel. The Discovery Science Center combines interactive play with scientific learning to create a fun day that’s not wasted.
