In the summertime, the waters of Catalina can reach the more than 70°F—perfect for taking a long, lazy swim in the salty waters of the Pacific! Bring your family out to any one of the charming beaches in the sunny coves for a lazy day on the beach and in the water. The most crowded spots will be at the Avalon Underwater Park, the harbor, and other coves near Avalon.
For a more deserted beach, try the windward side of the island; just be aware that it may be, well, windy. Keep a close eye on your children and even adult friends wherever you swim. Catalina’s beaches, like most of the California coastline, are subject to dangerous rip currents.
