One of the few year-round marinas on Shasta Lake, the Jones Valley Marina (22300 Jones Valley Marina Dr., Redding, 877/468-7326, www.houseboats.com) is situated on the secluded Pit River Arm, away from the higher traffic areas near the bridge but is still easily accessible from Redding and I-5. The McCloud Arm and the Squaw Creek Arm adjoin near this marina, which is one of the few that sells gas in this part of the lake.
Jones Valley Marina is part of a larger resort, and includes a floating recreation area in addition to wheelchair-accessible docks and houseboats.
Should you find yourself needing a three-deck houseboat with eight flat-screen TVs that sleeps 22 people, you can rent one at Jones Valley. They’ve also got a few more modest houseboats, plus the usual array of patio party boats and smaller craft, including a top-tier wakeboard-set speedboat.
