Pharmacies
Pharmacies are everywhere in Brazil. Most are open until 10 p.m. In most central neighborhoods, you’ll always find one that stays open 24 hours and on Sunday. All farmácias have at least one licensed pharmacist trained to deal with minor medical problems and emergencies, which could save you a trip to a clinic or hospital (the only problem is it’s very unlikely that the pharmacist will speak any English). You’ll be able to find good medicine for whatever ails you (upset stomach, diarrhea, headache, rashes, a cold or cough), even though you probably won’t recognize the names.
