Trip Ideas
Landlubbers will appreciate Itacaré as much as water rats. Aside from rafting down the Rio de Contas, you can also go canyoneering and tree-trekking, and practice rappelling at the Noré waterfall. Less adventurous souls can rent a canoe and go paddling through the coastal mangrove swamps. You can also explore the area by horseback or mountain bike.
Many hotels organize excursions and ecotourism agencies abound, among them: Ativa Rafting (Rua Pé da Pancada, tel. 73/3696-2219, www.ativarafting.com.br), Itacaré Ecoturismo (Rua Lodônio Almeida 117, tel. 73/3251-3666) and Caminho da Terra (Praça Santos Dumont 51, tel. 73/3251-3053).
