The Southern Coast
The Bahian coast leading south from Salvador to the border of the state of Espírito Santo is the longest coastline—and one of the most downright beautiful—in Brazil. Beaches, beaches, and more beaches are the big draw. Whether you like them hip and happening, remote and Robinson Crusoe-worthy, or somewhere in between, you will not be disappointed.
From the party scenes of Porto Seguro and Morro de São Paulo, passing through the drowsy colonial charms of Ilhéus and Caravelas, to the utter sensation of being Lost in Paradise provoked by the likes of Caraíva, reserve a week (or two), stock up on SPF60, and start exploring.
