Up the coast from Praia do Forte, the Estrada do Coco becomes known as the Linha Verde (Green Line), which stretches all the way up the coast to Bahia’s frontier with the state of Sergipe. With the exception of the mega-resort complex of Costa do Sauípe—with its umpteen international hotels surrounded by a fake theme-park likeness of the Pelourinho—the little fishing villages that dot this still unspoiled and beautiful stretch of coast are (for the time being) largely untouched by tourism.
