The coast going north from Salvador is known as the Estrada do Coco, or the Coconut Road (in honor of the coastline’s abundance of swaying coconut palms). Although increasingly subject to the whims of real estate developers, the little villages—and growing number of condo complexes—boast lovely beaches. And the further north you go, the more deserted they become.
