The coral reefs of the South Shore are arguably some of the most beautiful in the world, and close enough to shore to make them easily accessible. You don’t even need to be a full-fledged scuba diver to enjoy them. Several beachside concessions, including an outpost at Warwick Long Bay during the summer, rent masks, snorkels, and fins, as well as ubiquitous polystyrene “noodles,” allowing for hours of easy floating over boiler reefs and sea grass beds and around the edges of sheltered coves and bays. Here, you can watch exquisitely multihued parrotfish nibbling on the reef, ethereal angelfish, anemones, speckled morays, cheeky sergeant majors, schools of jacks, and even endangered green turtles in some areas.
