Annually battered by storm surge, the little beach at Astwood Cove is beautiful but hard to get to. Still, if climbing down clifftop trails isn’t a problem, you will find privacy once you get down to this, Warwick’s first public beach as you head west.
Surrounded by agricultural land and a seaside park that’s a favorite for family picnics and wedding photographs, the beach itself sits at the foot of steep cliffs that have been badly eroded.
Massive boulders, the work of several seasons’ storms, have tumbled onto the beach and shoreline in places. High surf perennially claims the sand as well, leaving just a field of underlying rocks, though seasonal tides return it every year. Picnic tables can be found in the park, and ample parking is also available.
