Just east of Spittal Pond, looking out over one of Bermuda’s most dramatically spectacular stretches of coastline visible from the main road, tiny Watch Hill Park (open sunrise to sunset daily, admission free) offers a peaceful stopping place for a picnic or rest while heading east. Anglers come here after work and on weekends, casting their lines for pompano and “good-eating” reef fish like snapper, rockfish, triggerfish, and hogfish.
Watch Hill Park is located on a peaceful stretch of South Shore Road, where traffic is generally very light. The main road east from here is the quintessential “scenic route,” leading far from rush-hour destinations—to leisurely Tucker’s Town and its private golf courses.
