Changle Lu (btwn. Fumin Lu and Shaanxi Lu) and Xinle Lu (btwn. Fumin Lu and Xiangyang Lu)

HOURS: Varies by shop

METRO: Changshu Road (Line 2, 7)

Changle and Xinle Roads are leafy, photogenic streets. They run parallel from east to west across the Old French Concession and are known for their plethora of clothing and accessory shops.

Xinle Road is the shorter of the two, so start at the junction of North Xiangyang Road and head west. You’ll pass a variety of local clothes shops; the choices get better the farther west you go. The Source (No. 158) is a hipster haven and NuoMi (No. 196) is great for eco-conscious womenswear.

Get onto Changle Road via Fumin Road and head east. The portion that stretches as far as South Shaanxi Road has plenty of great shops (including a bunch of maternity-wear boutiques close to the children’s hospital) but it starts to get a bit “Watch? Bag? DVD?” thereafter.
