This venue started out as the Workers’ Cultural Palace Theater and is the location for one of Beijing’s best long-term kung fu performances. The martial art practiced by the likes of Jet Li, Jackie Chan, and Bruce Lee, kung fu is almost synonymous with China.
The Legend of Kung Fu at the Red Theater showcases the talents of a team of young martial artists (whose average age is around 17). In six 10-minute segments, they tell the story of a young boy who leaves his parents to go and study at the temple under a great kung fu master.
The theater is easy to find thanks to its glowing neon-red facade.
