Between Lang Suan Soi 5 and Soi 6 is a lunch market that’s packed full of people between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. In the maze of connecting side streets, in between stalls selling trendy T-shirts and tropical fruit by the kilo, are scores of cheap, yummy dishes to try.
There are also a bunch of inexpensive little smoothie shacks if you’re in need of a cold drink.
Seek out the woman on Lang Suan Soi 6 for Thai sticky-rice desserts wrapped in banana leaves. You’ll know it’s her if you see a display of little triangular packages that look like they’re wrapped in leaves and secured with little wooden skewers. Buy a few and open them up—inside you’ll find dollops of sweet, satisfying sticky rice, sometimes topped with custard.
