Many of Baltimore’s storied companies of yore—Hamburger’s, Hochschild Kohn—have long vanished. But Shofer’s, first opened in 1914 in part of the same Federal Hill location (now some 70,000 square feet) it occupies today, has managed to hang on, probably because it’s helped establish Baltimore’s taste in furniture and home decor for almost a century.
